Introducing Shanling EC Play

At Shanling, we have been making CD players for over 30 years. From budget 90s models to massive High-end units, but it was the small EC Mini that started the current chase for renewal of portable CD players.

We firstly focused on the demanding audiophiles with the top-end EC Zero T, packing it with a special R2R DAC and tubes. Later came its simpler version EC Zero AKM, bringing the same advanced CD system into the mid-range part of the market.

And today, we are making Shanling portable CD players even more affordable and easier to carry with the new Shanling EC Play!

With EC Play, we are not chasing the audiophile sound, we just want to recreate the days of old, when portable CD players were convenient and a common part of daily life.

EC Play was designed to be smaller than any of its predecessors, lightest at just 418g, yet still featuring durable aluminium constructions. Its tactile buttons provide easy playback control while on the go and the small screen offers direct on-device access to settings, with no apps needed at all.

Featuring our active magnetic CD clamp, EC Play provides extremely stable CD playback in all conditions, under any angle and even during active movements. Enjoy its gapless playback through 3.5mm or 4.4mm headphone output, with Cirrus Logic CS43918 DAC and a pair of SGM8262 amplifiers providing great sound tuned by Hi-Fi experts at Shanling.

With a built-in 3450mAh battery, EC Play offers up to 12 hours of continuous playback and a respectable 700mW @ 32Ω output power covering everything from earphones to full-size headphones. And even when stationary at home or at a desk, EC Play will reveal more of its functionality thanks to its 3.5mm SPDIF Coaxial output, conveniently adding CD playback to dedicated Hi-Fi DACs.

The music doesn’t end with the last track of the CD, as the Bluetooth 6.0 Receiver mode allows for direct streaming from smartphones over AAC or LDAC codecs. And for fans of High-Resolution files, the USB DAC Mode is ready for Music up to 384 kHz and DSD256.
